US Navy air strikes sank the 158-meter Japanese auxiliary supply ship Kogyo Maru in September 1944 during Operation Hailstone's Coron raid. Resting on her starboard side in Coron Bay, the hull serves as an artificial reef covered in sponges and soft corals. Cargo holds contain airfield construction equipment, including a bulldozer, tractor, air compressors, and cement bags hardened underwater decades ago.

Rising from 200-meter depths off Malapascua Island, Monad Shoal features sandy ledges at 22 to 27 meters where pelagic thresher sharks visit cleaner wrasse stations. Divers descend along fixed mooring lines at dawn to catch peak activity before sunlight reaches deeper water.
