Off Playa Paraná, south of Puerto Madryn, the Folias—a 60-meter Spanish factory fishing vessel—caught fire and ran aground in 1980. Its rusted superstructure breaks the surface at low tide. Accessible directly from the beach, the broken hull rests on sand between 3 and 10 meters deep. South American sea lions inspect divers around the encrusted ironwork, while Argentine sandperch and starfish shelter inside collapsed beams.
