Dive-site story
What makes this site worth diving
At Key Largo Dry Rocks in John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the bronze Christ of the Abyss statue sits on a concrete pedestal under eight meters of water. Italian sculptor Guido Galletti created the nearly three-meter figure, installed in 1965 with arms outstretched toward the surface. Surrounding spur-and-groove reef formations hold sea fans, brain corals, and schooling yellowtail snappers.
