At Botany Bay's northern entrance, Henry Head's rocky reef ledges drop to a sandy seabed at 18 to 22 meters. Large boulders form swim-throughs and overhangs sheltering Eastern blue devilfish and red indianfish inside dark crevices. Kelp beds along the sand line harbor weedy seadragons. Ocean swell and tidal inflow affect the site, making slack water ideal.

South of Maroubra Beach in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs, Magic Point serves as an aggregation site for endangered grey nurse sharks. A sandstone shelf drops onto a sandy seabed at 15 to 22 meters deep, forming overhangs and gutters where sharks hover against the ocean surge. Kelp beds on the shallow reef top host weedy seadragons, while deep crevices conceal Port Jackson sharks and large wobbegongs. Given the exposed ocean cliffs, boat diving is the standard approach.
